REWE signed up as a new PAYBACK customer with the aim of introducing suitable loyalty terminals in almost all supermarkets throughout Germany inside of six months. The large number – almost 3,200 systems – and simultaneous 'going live' throughout the country on just one day posed particular challenges.
Market leader in the field of loyalty terminals, this project gave Polygon ample opportunity to demonstrate its expertise across all areas. The company scored points – which ultimately convinced REWE – with its own design and concept proposals as early as the tender phase. And the Polygon specialists brought the project to a smooth and untroubled conclusion, despite facing an extremely tight schedule for rolling out the REWE service points. It all took just six months! Three months of development, the same for production and rollout. Some days saw 2 articulated trucks leave the production facility, each carrying 40 terminals. Nationwide rollout with commissioning of this immense number of systems was a particular challenge for Polygon, too. But the challenges were mastered to the customer's fullest satisfaction. Polygon has signed a long-term deal to provide the terminals with after-sales service and will ensure that their availability remains constant and high.
The striking look of the REWE service points, positioned at the entrance to the REWE markets, is a true design highlight. The slender, tall silhouettes that require very little space in the markets, also the eye-catching graphic design of the front sections, present visual accents with a message.
The new REWE service points offer customers real added value. Paper coupons are redundant, as the service points can activate digital eCoupons, for instance multiple points. Points are also redeemed digitally at the REWE service point. Customers activate an electronic voucher, which is then deducted from the amount rung up at the till.
REWE Markt GmbH is among the leading German food retailers. The company operates 3,000 REWE markets and records revenue of €16.4 bn. (2013) with a workforce of over 90,000. REWE markets are operated as branches or by independent REWE franchisers. REWE belongs to the cooperative REWE Group, one of the leading retail and tourism corporations in Germany and Europe. The company generated total revenues of approximately €51 bn. in 2013. Founded in 1927, REWE Group employs a workforce of 330,000 and has roughly 15,000 markets in 12 European countries. In 2013, approximately 226,000 employees in roughly 10,000 markets throughout Germany generated revenue of €36 bn.
"Introducing PAYBACK here in our stores was an extremely demanding project with an incredibly tight schedule. This was particularly true for the terminals part of the project. Polygon handled this area with true aplomb and proved to be a reliable partner.
