'Dancing Robots' for Autostadt – these were the terminals that Polygon developed for, and in cooperation with, Autostadt and Gedas GmbH back in 2000. This marked the start of steady and successful cooperation. These information pillars were designed to provide users with helpful information and to accompany them on their way through Autostadt. The terminals were able to move autonomously, creating a conscious association with dancing robots and generating a lot of attention. The design and user-friendly operation of the terminals received a lot of praise around the world.
For instance, the POIs won with the silver medal from the 2001 International New Media Competition at the New York Festival. Back in November 2000 the terminals had also received an honorary distinction for their impeccable quality from the Design Centre North Rhine Westphalia, followed by the iF Award for Interaction Design from the Industry Forum Design Hanover in January 2001 and a DMMW MultiMediaAward in the Terminals Class in 2002.
